Partnership Criteria -- Higher Ed
Mission Based Criteria for Partnerships between the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service and Higher Education Institutions
-
In order to assure that the real concerns of poor and disenfranchised people secure their place in the University, higher education partnerships will have at their core a focus on social justice and positive change.
-
Coherent with their institutional missions, higher education partnerships will have strong and defining educational dimensions. Particular emphasis will be given to partnerships and projects that enable a wider and more diverse inclusiveness in higher education. The work done in partnership will always have a carefully developed reflective component as well as an action component.
-
High priority will be given to partnerships with organizations and institutions that are committed to a more equal and a more inclusive society.
-
Potential partners vary in kind and location.
-
There are different kinds of partners available, for example: educational associations, university collaboratives, learned societies, public policy groups, government agencies, institutes, networks; and, of course, individual colleges and universities; etc.
-
Moreover, each of these kinds of partnerships can be international, national, or local in scope
-
As a guideline, it is healthy for the Center for Social Justice to seek a rich variety of such partnerships, being concerned to ensure as wide a range as possible, consistent with the principles stated above, of types and locales.
