Program on Justice and Peace

Justice and Peace Studies draws on a wide range of existing disciplines including Psychology, Philosophy, Theology, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Literature, and Linguistics, among others. This multi-disciplinary field of study is concerned with many basic questions such as: what is a just society; what defines peace and can peace be achieved; what is conflict, when is it legitimate, and how can conflict be transformed?

If you would like to have your course crosslisted (JUPS) with the Program on Justice and Peace please contact Mark Lance.

The Program on Justice and Peace is administratively housed in the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service, and offers an undergraduate minor in the Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences as well as a certificate in the School of Foreign Service, the School of Nursing and Health Studies, and the McDonough School of Business.
