VPS Links: The Environment

  • Audubon Expedition Institute of the National Audubon Society: A program that prepares hundreds of college and graduate students for environmental careers, through the use of mobile classrooms traveling the country.  Fully accredited, by combining academic studies with hiking in canyons and mountains to explore geology, and attending congressional briefings, students learn first-hand about the issues facing our environment.

  • Visions in Action--“Volunteers in International Development”:An international nonprofit organization offering 6 and 12- month volunteer positions in five African countries and Mexico. Positions are available with nonprofit development organizations, research institutes, health clinics, community groups, and news organizations. The program features a month-long orientation, including intensive language study, followed by a 5 or 11-month volunteer placement.

  • Zero Population Growth: A national nonprofit organization working “to slow population growth and achieve a sustainable balance between the Earth’s people and its resources."  ZPG’s education and advocacy programs aim to influence public policies, attitudes, and behavior on national and global population issues and related concerns.
