Student Awards and Funding

The following are awards administered by the staff of the CSJ.


GEORGETOWN AWARDS:

The CSJ Awards
Each year the CSJ allows students to nominate the individuals, groups and classes who they believe are excelling in promoting social justice locally, nationally and internationally.  Winners are announced in our annual CSJ Celebration. 

The Program on Justice and Peace Slevin Award:
Honoring Dr. James Slevin, co-founder of CSJ, this monetary award is awarded to students dedicated to social justice.

The Alumnae Giving Circle Award:
Sponsored by alumnae of Georgetown, students are selected based on their level of need and commitment to social justice.

Lena Landegger Community Service Awards
Georgetown University annually honors 20 Georgetown undergraduate students with $2,500 each for their distinguished contributions to community service


LOCAL AND NATIONAL AWARDS

Howard R. Swearer Student Humanitarian Award
Each year since 1987, five students at Campus Compact member schools have been honored with this prestigious award. The award recognizes students for their innovative strategies in addressing community issues and needs, and their efforts to build and sustain this work among their peers and within their institution.

The Frank Newman Leadership Award

The Frank Newman Leadership Award recognizes exceptional students who have shown potential for civic leadership through community service and scholastic achievement, and who have a demonstrated financial need.


The Davis 100 Projects for Peace

The Davis Projects for Peace is an invitation to undergraduates to design promising and doable grassroots projects that promote world peace.  The $10,000.00 award is meant to encourage and support today’s motivated youth to create and tryout their own ideas for building peace.
