Program on Justice and Peace
Justice and Peace Studies subject matter is concerned with many basic questions such as: What is a just society, what defines peace and can peace be achieved? What is conflict, when is it legitimate, and how can conflict be transformed?Drawing on a wide range of existing disciplines including Psychology, Philosophy, Theology, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Literature, and Linguistics, this interdisciplinary field of study requires an active collaboration and dialogue between all these elements.
Administratively housed in the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service, the Program on Justice and Peace offers students a program of study toward an undergraduate minor in the Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences and a certificate in the School of Foreign Service, the School of Nursing and Health Studies, and the McDonough School of Business.
