FOCI 2009 - Leaders
Meet Your FOCI Leaders
A group of sixteen upperclassmen begin planning each year's program in February and are in charge of day-to-day operations during FOCI week.
We are united in our view that service and activism is a critical need in the District and in the world, that it builds character, and that it is of vast educational value. As a group, the leaders have a vast array of social justice experience and are extensively involved in many other organizations at Georgetown.
Since FOCI is student-led, the participants also learn a lot about Georgetown and D.C. in general from the leaders during the week--i.e., which classes to take, how to navigate the Metro, what restaurants to avoid on M St., and much, much more.
We plan for FOCI throughout the summer and arrive back at Georgetown a week before the participants arrive to finalize preparations. Ray Shiu from the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service advises the leaders as they prepare for FOCI week. The leaders cannot tell you how excited they are for FOCI!
